Position Summary
Candidate will gain valuable experience in product development, mechanical design, testing and validation methods. This position provides exposure to a large depth and breadth of products, markets, and manufacturing methods. The position is in Product Engineering and will be assigned several projects. The Product Engineering Co-Op works with product engineers and various support personnel in our Rochester, NY location.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
- Tasks include engineering, design and testing.
- Perform testing on components and finished products
- Tests include mechanical strength, accelerated life cycle, product performance, environmental exposure including extreme temperatures and corrosion resistance testing
- Design, define, and document experiments
- Document new test methods
- Assist in development of new and legacy product lines
- Develop equipment and machines for testing. To include gear for testing new products and equipment to make testing activities leaner and more efficient. Ranges from basic fixtures to the design and construction of testing robots of moderate complexity.
- Follow all safety requirements
- Any other project that management assigns
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- SolidWorks (3D)
- Good understanding of materials science, statics, and dynamics
- Excel
- Has legible handwriting and can communicate and write in English
- Solid computer skills
- Basic programming skills desired (Arduino, Matlab, LabView)
Educational & Certification Requirements
Must be enrolled in one of the following degree programs:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Manufacturing Engineering Technology
- Electrical-Mechanical Engineering Technology
