What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Instructor, Practical Nursing (0.6 FTE) position at Assabet Valley Reg. Tech. High School?
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Using the framework provided by the Massachusetts Nurse of the Future, the Assabet PracticalNursing Program curriculum plan and Student Learning Outcomes; organize plan, implement, andevaluate assigned nursing classes and labs in cooperation with the course coordinator.2. Provide clinical supervision for up to ten (10) practical nursing students per clinical group in clinicalagencies to provide student clinical experiences to compliment classroom and laboratory learning.Assist with plans for rotation of students through clinical experiences.3. Coordinate student behavior problems with the Director following handbook policy.4.
Maintain attendance and clinical records for assigned students and submit grades and clinicalevaluations to the Practical Nursing Director. Counsel students regarding clinical progress; provideor arrange remediation as needed.5. Adhere to clinical agency policies and/or contractual agreements regarding student and facultypractice.6. Complete faculty orientation program for clinical agencies to which assigned.
Participate inAVRTHS Mentor Program.7. Be available for extra help and make-up work 24 weeks throughout the program as per unioncontract. (0.6 FTE employee)8. Hold periodic meetings with representatives of each cooperating agency to evaluate theexperience.
Such meetings shall be held at least once each year. Submit written agency minuteswhich shall be retained on file each term.9. Attend faculty meetings as voting member of curriculum committee, promotions committee andProgram Advisory Committee.10. Review course syllabi and teaching materials in accordance with the Assabet Practical NursingProgram curriculum plan and Student Learning Outcomes of the program.11.
Assist with the development of policies and procedures for Practical Nursing Program Handbook.12. Carry out school policies as directed by administration.13. Maintain all Clinical Resource Lab equipment and supplies with respect to safety andhousekeeping.14. Assist with the orientation and mentoring of new faculty.15.
Continue to improve expertise in nursing and teaching through any one or combination of thefollowing: academic study, clinical practice, certifications and other appropriate learningactivities.16. Establish a collaborative relationship with other school staff and health care agencies.17. Assist in Systematic Evaluation Plan for continuing ACEN accreditation and Massachusetts Boardof Registration in Nursing approval.18. Maintains expertise in program technology.COMPENSATION: This is 0.6 FTE position of 112 days.
