What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Specialist position at Assabet Valley Reg. Tech. High School?
The Technical Specialist will work collaboratively with licensed chapter 74 technical teachers to support students in grades 9-12 in the attainment of the technical education in the field they have chosen. This role will support students in areas of technical reading comprehension, technical writing, technical math, engineering principles, technical science, and other curricula as required by the program frameworks. The Technical Specialist will also assist with organizational skills, industry certification preparation, and program-specific performance standards. The Technical Specialist schedule will be thoughtfully designed on a cluster model of specific programs that will stay as consistent as possible from year to year.
The Technical Specialist shall continually develop a working knowledge of the technical education curriculum in the areas they teach to assist students in the attainment of concepts and practices for industry certifications, licensure, and program requirements.The Technical Specialist shall track student performance across disciplines to provide direct student support for technical and academic education goals.The Technical Specialist shall work to support English Learners (ELs), if bilingual or with technology, to assist with curriculum comprehension and language acquisition. (ex. Google Translate) The Technical Specialist shall support and establish classroom management practicesThe Technical Specialist shall assist in the development of post-secondary planning to help prepare students to enter the workforce, military, apprenticeship, college, or other post-secondary opportunities.The Technical Specialist shall collaborate with affiliated departments, committees, and organizations for student success, such as co-op, Program Advisory Committee, SkillsUSA, BPA, etc.
