What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Assawompset Elementary?

We are seeking a passionate individual, who is patient and highly flexible and enjoys working with children.
Responsibilities:
1. Assists and escorts students when necessary for the purpose of attending to the student's care needs and arrival to/from destinations.
2. Attends meetings and inservice presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
3. Communicates with supervising instructional staff, and a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel for the purpose of communicating progress.
4. Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
5. Monitors student's daily schedule for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work, (example - toileting assistance and support when transitioning from one piece of equipment to another.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum High School Diploma
2. Relevant school-based experience preferred
3. Ability to support physical, emotional and academic needs of student
4. Moderate to heavy lifting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with persons that require physical support and 1:1 attention to allow for the students to meet their academic, social/emotional and physical needs.
Salary & Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators’ Association contract. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
