Overview

The Associate Director, HR People Partner manages the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties for assigned departments. This position is hybrid (3 days a week in office) and will be located in NYC. The Associate Director, HR People Partner carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee on-boarding & off-boarding, staff planning & design, employee relations and engagement. This is a hands-on role, and will report into the Sr Director, People, NA located in New York.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Main point of contact for employees and managers in assigned departments
  • Builds strong business relationship with managers
  • Facilitates new hire orientation and on boarding
  • Manages voluntary and involuntary terminations and conducts exit interviews for assigned departments
  • Handles all employee relations issues, including leaves of absence
  • Performs initial investigations of employee complaints, escalating where necessary
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers in assigned departments (ie coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Facilitates and guides staff through the annual performance review process
  • Participates in the semi-annual salary review process
  • Works with the People Operations team on HR Metrics reports regarding terminations, transfers, and new hires, etc. as requested
  • Analyzes data to identify trends in employee engagement, performance, and attrition
  • Responsible for the creation and distribution of HR Communications (specific to assigned departments)
  • Assists with the talent review and succession planning processes for assigned departments, including identifying employees ready for promotion and rotation
  • Works with the Talent Acquisition Team to surface the internal candidates for rotation or promotion
  • Assesses skill gaps and identifies training and coaching needs for assigned departments
  • Works with the Organizational Effectiveness teams to evaluate and monitor training programs to ensure success, following up to ensure training objectives are met
  • Provides recommendations on how to improve internal processes
  • Ensures that HR files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures
  • Handles immigration issues, liaising with legal to navigate complex immigration/employment arrangements
  • Challenges the organizational structure and proposes changes

Manages HR projects, as assigned

Required Skills

Requirements:

  • 6 years well rounded HR Generalist experience with at least 2 years managing employee relations with general knowledge of California employment laws and practice
  • Experience managing leaves of absence a plus
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment laws and practices a plus
  • Media agency experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience with HRIS; UKG experience a plus
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's design, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong consultative skills: the ability to build strong partnerships and to influence without authority as well as influence confidently, effectively and collaboratively
  • Experience with change management
  • Flexibility to adapt in a constantly evolving environment
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential matters

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in all locations within the United States for this role is $100,000 - $120,000USD. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
