Job Summary
The Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) will work with the behavioral home team to deliver well-coordinated and integrated care to youth and families served. This position requires leadership and technical assistance in developing and implementing peer support services.
Responsibilities:
- Identify individual needs for peer supports through interaction with the BHHO team and clients.
- Provide individual and group peer support to BHHO team clients and other clients.
- Act as a peer role model, demonstrating effective interpersonal communications and community integration strategies.
- Assist clients with understanding their rights and responsibilities as recipients of mental health and co-occurring use disorder services.
- Network with current programs and advocate for new opportunities for clients in community supports, programs, and activities of their choice.
- Assist clients with understanding their experience of mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder through shared common experience as peers.
- Understand and actively support the mission of the BHHO model, the client-directed outcome-informed client model, and the principles of recovery.
- Provide a unique perspective as a participating member of the BHHO, helping staff to understand mental illness through the client experience.
- Attend and actively participate in all BHHO staff and team meetings and supervisions.
- Provide volunteer peer services outside of regular business hours.
- Receive required individual supervisions as required by the CIPSS program.
- Assist clients with transportation in conjunction with the goals on their ISP.
- Accept and follow through on guidance for professional growth and performance improvement in clinical and administrative supervisions.
- Provide added individual and program consultations around any area in which you demonstrate special expertise.
- Participate in required and elective staff development activities in accord with the individual staff development plan.
Qualifications:
- Proof of vehicle insurance at $50K/$100K and a valid Maine driver's license are required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CIPSS certification or CIPSS provisional certification.
- Self-identified mental health consumer who has personally experienced a severe and persistent mental illness.
