What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director/Administrator position at Assisted Living Facility?
Assisted Living Director (Executive Director) for Assisted Living and Memory Care community focused on providing compassionate care for the elderly in a homelike setting. The Executive Director is a key leadership position focused on providing quality of care for our residents and streamlining operations for the community. They are responsible for the coordination and operations of the community—including activity-focused program development and implementation, staff training, and family support—within accordance of federal, state, and local standards. They are also responsible for developing and maintaining resident care objectives and standards of practice, managing transfers to facility, creating policies and procedures, and creating/updating job descriptions for all other staff.
They should be a strong leader, have a passion for the elderly, be a strong communicator, and focused on process and details.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the overall operations and directs the day-to-day functions of staff
- Ensures that emotional, physical, psychological, and safety needs are met through all program services and activities
- Ensure positive engagement of residents, family, friends, and team members by setting community standards and maintaining a positive, open-door atmosphere
- Develops and ensures that staff complies with the written policies and procedures established by the community
- Meets with staff and support personnel to plan and schedule shifts, services, programs and activities
- Demonstrate effective communication, lead by example, ensure outstanding attention to detail in resident’ care and wellbeing
- Has direct responsibility for hiring, training, and supervising a top-notch team
- Supports the Sales and Marketing process, in order to meet or exceed occupancy and revenue targets
- Have direct responsibility for the financial management and regulatory compliance of the community; manages labor costs, supplies and other line items in department budget
Required skills and qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree Nursing or related field (e.g. health care administration) from an accredited college
- At least 3 years of management experience in an assisted living, long term care or hospital setting
- Ability to deal with a variety of personnel and manage conflict resolution
- Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Flexibility with schedule, required to be on call
- Must enjoy working with the senior population
- Ability to keep abreast of the latest research findings regarding Alzheimer’s Disease and changes in the adult foster care or home for the aged field.
