Masonicare at Middlewoods of Farmington, a senior living community committed to its mission of providing relationship-centered care, is currently seeking a Full Time Chef Manager to work in our Farmington, CT community. The Chef Manager oversees the day-to-day operations in the food service department. The Chef Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This position requires a blend of culinary expertise, leadership skills, and effective kitchen management to lead a team of kitchen staff in a food service setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and an ability to inspire and motivate their team. The schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday.
Responsibilities:
- Directs, supervises, prepares and cooks meals according to menus in accordance with established procedures and time schedules.
- Performs daily and periodic sanitation activities in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Provides leadership and supervision to employees and manages the work flow of dietary staff.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving and storing all foods and supplies in accordance with planned meals, internal procedures and to maintain sanitary standards.
- Contributes to the effective operations of the department by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

- Collaborates with all staff to maintain the safety and security of all who reside, visit, or work in the Facility.
Requirements:
- Must be able to work some holidays.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Must be able to understand therapeutic menus, job assignments, dietary cards and recipes.
- Must possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of Local, State, and Federal Health Codes.
- Must be willing to undergo a comprehensive background check and a physical.
Qualifications:
Education: High School graduate, culinary school preferred.
Experience: 3 yrs institutional experience or culinary schooling plus one year dietary experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other medical facility
Licensure: Food Service Certification
