Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for coordinating comprehensive program for Institutional compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
Job Duties:
1. Performs and assists with spill response, facilities safety evaluations, and fire safety inspections.
2. Monitors, packages, transports, separates, and processes hazardous materials for appropriate disposal.
3. Maintains program compliance reporting systems identifying and developing both corrective action and appropriate training for areas found to be deficient.
4. Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and other written guidelines.
5. Assists with data analysis to identify workplace health and safety risk trends, recommends, and monitors actions to mitigate risk and develop prevention strategies/programs.
6. Documents corrective actions.
7. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in a basic science is required, a degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Applied Science, Health or Environmental Science is preferred; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
· No experience is required with a degree.
· Experience working in a lab or research area is preferred.
