Registered Nurse - OR Position Summary 

This position is responsible for the delivery of optimum quality care of patients while in the Intra-Op and Intra-Procedural phases of care within the Surgery Center.

Registered Nurse - OR Essential Functions

• Develops an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical diagnoses, and knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care
• Collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and effect a smooth flow of the surgical experience
• Plans and utilizes resources efficiently to complete the daily schedule in a timely manner while providing safe and individualized patient care
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups including pediatric, adult and geriatric when providing resources for the perioperative experience
• Reassesses, evaluates and revises the implementation of the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient
• Responds appropriately to changes in the patient’s condition and/or behavior
• Completes appropriate portions of the patient record accurately and thoroughly
• Function as a circulating nurse during multi-specialty surgical procedures
  • Serves as the patient advocate before, during, and after surgery / procedure;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe positioning and use of positioning equipment;
  • Maintains both a sterile and safe environment for the patient before, during, and after the surgery; / procedure; and
  • Performs required responsibilities independently and with team members in compliance with departmental policies and procedures

• Must be willing and able to adjust schedule depending upon the needs of the company
• Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
• Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned
