SUMMARY
To perform essential job functions with a focus on all aspects of mill operations. This will include consistent focus on safety, quality, and service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Ensure all safety and quality procedures are being followed
- Operate batching system producing product consistent with customer expectations
- Monitor production and ensure production goals are met daily
- Adjust production schedule and ensure proper sequencing
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance to maintain adequate mill production
- Communicate downtime in a timely matter with direct supervisor/manager
- Ensure adequate pass downs are done through the utilization of notes
- Operate receiving system and ensure proper documentation and routing
- Maintain required documentation associated with all departments
- Inspect and maintain pellet mill by monitoring roll gap and lubrication
- After appropriate training, operate all process equipment, including forklift, loader and rail car mover
- Perform housekeeping duties throughout the facility
- Work independently in the absence of on-site supervision
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and customers
- Climb ladders up to 100 feet in order to perform maintenance and inventory duties
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
- Uphold all CGMP, Safe Food Safe Feed, and FSMA requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Methods and techniques for safe work practices
- Forklift operations desired
- Basic recordkeeping practices
Ability to:
- Perform basic computer operations using Windows, Word, Excel
- Perform daily safety inspections and identify safety hazards
- Perform basic mathematical problems (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Troubleshoot
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
- Complete written work orders legibly and keep records in order to coordinate feed schedules
- Contribute to a positive work environment
- Demonstrate good organization skills
Minimum Job Requirements, Experience, and Training Guidelines:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and carry up to 75 feet (e.g., sack feed bag)
- Basic computer skills
- Work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and on-call
- Participation in random drug/alcohol DOT testing program is required
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing for long period of time
- Frequent bending, squatting and kneeling
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 100 pounds up to 75 feet
- Frequent grasping, holding and reaching
- Constant use of overall vision
- Frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions
- Frequent co-worker contact; occasional working alone
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
Working conditions
- Work may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperatures; may be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust
