Summary:
Associated Feed & Supply is looking for an experienced Rail Operator/Unloader for their Feed Mill Operations in Traver, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ability to operate, monitor, and maintain all aspects of the rail operation at this facility. This will include operation of the locomotive, keeping a daily inventory of all rail cars, unloading of cargo, routing products to the proper area of the facility, and maintenance of all components of the rail operation.
- Applicants must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License and remain free from repeated preventable accidents with less than 2-points on DMV record.
- Participation in a random drug testing program will be required.
- The successful candidate will be in good physical condition, able to lift and carry 75 lbs. for 100 feet, communicate clearly and audibly in a noisy environment, understand all railroad vocabulary, and be flexible to work varying schedules, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Knowledge of:
- Methods and techniques for safe work practices
- Knowledge of rail receiving
- Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Work in confined spaces and/or at high elevations
- Perform daily safety inspections and identify safety hazards
- Work flexibly and varying work schedules including on-call, overtime as needed
- Perform basic mathematical problems (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and customers
- Follow written and verbal instructions; problem solve
- Communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
- Complete written work orders legibly and keep records to coordinate feed schedules
- Contribute to a positive work environment
- Demonstrate good organization skills
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience
- Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds up to 100 feet (e.g., sack feed bag)
- Previous feed/agricultural experience desired
- Basic computer skills
- Work varying shifts including weekends, holidays, overtime and on-call
- Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Participation in random drug/alcohol DOT testing program is required
Physical and mental requirements
- Frequent standing for long period of time
- Frequent bending, squatting and kneeling
- Frequent climbing up to 120 feet
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 pounds up to 100 feet
- Frequent grasping, holding and reaching
- Constant use of overall vision
- Frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions
- Frequent co-worker contact; occasional working alone
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Frequent use of a 12lb. sledgehammer
- Work may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperatures and a noisy environment
- May be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust, and dusty, muddy and slick environment
- Adhere to all PPE Guidelines as established by OSHA and the company
