JOB SUMMARY:
Technology Account Specialists play a crucial role in supporting retail locations by learning and mastering the software and systems utilized in these environments. This position involves upgrading POS systems and hardware while ensuring compliance with PCI security requirements. Specialists will work directly with retailers to address all technology needs, including the staging, installation, and training of POS hardware, software, and network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Install operating systems, software, patches, and upgrades to maintain optimal performance.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
- Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating systems, software, and hardware to enhance operational efficiency.
- Set up and perform system backups and recovery, including building store servers.
- Implement system and data security measures, such as virus protection, malware prevention, and PCI compliance.
- Communicate effectively with retailers regarding technology needs, industry trends, and changes.
- Implement and support store networks and network security protocols to ensure robust operational integrity.
- Handle escalated service tickets from Tier 1 help desk support, providing advanced assistance and resolution.
- Train store personnel on standard IT procedures and advise them on current and future IT needs.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, or a combination of equivalent experience and training.
- Three to five years of relevant work experience demonstrating competence in technology support.
- Preferred experience in retail settings and knowledge of POS systems.
- Familiarity with computer programming concepts and languages is a plus.
- Proficient in installing and maintaining a wide range of computer software and hardware components.
- Ability to manage high-stress situations involving multiple projects and equipment issues in retail environments.
- Strong aptitude for training and supporting store personnel in technology-related matters.
- Capable of working collaboratively with teams on retail point of sale, back office operations, web browsers, and other in-store technologies.
- Excellent relationship-building skills to serve as a trusted resource for retailers on technology issues.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with in-depth technical knowledge of relevant hardware and software.
Physical/Sensory Demands
- Frequent local travel using a personal vehicle for on-site installations and retailer support.
- Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment, with regular interaction with various stakeholders.
