QUALITY CONTROL SUMMARY
Do you have a keen eye for quality produce? Associated Grocers of New England is looking for a quality control inspector that ensures compliance with food safe handlings standards during receiving, storage, returns and shipment of all perishable products. AGNE is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale distribution center in New England and we abide by USDA/FDA standards.
PRODUCE INSPECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect inbound produce for compliance to AGNE’s quality guidelines.
- Inspect all other inbound perishable product for compliance with temperature and date guidelines.
- Review inhouse products for quality, temperature and rotation.
- Communicate regularly with procurement about the quality of products.
- Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
- Review all perishable returns for appropriate disposition.
- Follow food safe handling policy and procedures.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Physical stamina required: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment, as low as -20°.
- Moderate produce product knowledge.
- USDA produce quality training preferred. Will train the right candidate.
- Three to five years of wholesale or retail produce experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. This includes both oral and writing skills.
- Basic computer skills.
