The Compliance Specialist role is located at the Associated Packaging, Inc. headquarters in Gallatin, TN. This role will maintain the customer compliance program related to regulatory and other related customer requirements. This role supports Operations, Sales and Technical Service departments to retain or support new business growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze customer requests for compliance declarations and documents. These requests will come in the form of requirements communicated through a variety of compliance portals or directly from a current or future customer via API’s branch offices. Requests can be related to OSHA, FDA, California Proposition 65, REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, Certificates of Origin, Certificates of Insurance, implementation of new regulations, etc.
- Coordinate with internal resources, suppliers, API insurance company and potentially others to obtain required documentation.
- Works with the EH&S Specialist to prioritize and close gaps to compliance deficiencies. This could include product testing to demonstrate compliance.
- Coordinates with EH&S Specialist and Technical Service Leadership related to service technician training to meet specific customer training requirements and expectations
- Evaluates compliance requests and generates requests to suppliers through email campaigns. Reviews all documentation supplied by suppliers to ensure it properly addresses the customer’s compliance request and meets customer expectations. Communicate with customers to correct deficiencies.
- Identifies and maintains supplier compliance contact database.
- Supports any regulatory audits that may be conducted, including root cause identification and development of corrective actions.
- Log, track and maintain detailed internal records of compliance in the most efficient manner. Manages applicable KPI’s.
- Coordinates with the Inventory Director relating to flow down of API customer compliance requirements to our suppliers. Recommends re-sourcing of suppliers that are unable or unwilling to demonstrate compliance. Assist with the development of a supplier qualification process.
- Stays current with upcoming regulatory changes, assesses how this may affect API and our supply chain, and makes recommendations to management.
- Closes own knowledge gaps through attendance in webinars, in-person regulatory compliance seminars or other appropriate learning sources to respond to a changing regulatory environment.
- Attends and contributes to API operations, sales, and service meetings on a regular basis to keep abreast and share current information regarding compliance challenges that the organization is facing and reports how regulatory compliance is affecting API’s business.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Science, Criminal Justice or EH&S preferred. Associates Degree in Paralegal studies acceptable.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
- Research experience, training in investigations or investigations experience is a plus.
