Investigates and maintains knowledge of payer pre-certification / authorization, and referral requirements
Verifies patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage,
Supplies information to payers including medical information and / or a letter of medical necessity for determination of benefits
Ensures prior certification, authorization, and referral requirements are met prior to delivery of services
Communicates with payers, physicians, and patients regarding PA status
Ensures compliance with payer contracts
Documents necessary information in patient’s medical record

health care environment working with insurance companies : 2 years (Required)
prior authorizations or medical coding : 2 years (Preferred)
