What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic Center-Facilities Assistant (FT) position at Associated Students Inc.?
SUMMARY: The Facilities Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager in the overall maintenance and repair of the Aquatic Center facility and equipment. This includes conducting routine inspections, performing basic repairs, maintaining cleanliness and organization of facility spaces, ensuring the proper functioning of boating equipment, and assisting with facility with mechanical needs. The Facilities Assistant will also be expected to monitor safety standards, handle maintenance requests, and provide support for any emergency repair situations that may arise. A proactive approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are key attributes for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, perform routine maintenance for the physical plant of the Center and equipment meeting all established deadlines. Immediately respond to emergency repair needs.
Regularly review and complete comprehensive repair log as required. Prioritize and complete repairs.
Serve as foreman for maintenance and repair projects as directed by the Facilities Manager. Oversee and train maintenance staff ensuring safety regulations are followed.
Inventory tools and equipment utilized for maintenance ensuring they are in good working order. Make recommendations for equipment replacement to Facilities Manager as needed.
Provide support to Aquatic Center special events as required. This requires overtime.
Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
General carpentry skills
Ability to appropriately use power tools and hand tools (i.e. hammer, screwdriver, wrench, saw)
First Aid and C.P.R. certification (must have acquired certification within six months of hire)
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Ability to climb up to approximately 50 feet above the ground (with safety equipment)
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and be prepared for both heat and cold
Walking and climbing; lifting and carrying heavy objects; bending and stooping continually and for extended periods of time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to maintain a Class B driver’s license and meet ASI driving criteria
Ability to obtain a CA Boater’s License
Ability to drive a boat
General knowledge of boat maintenance
Knowledge of windows-based personal computers – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
