What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Performance DJ position at Associated Students?
GENERAL STATEMENT
Under the guidance of the 22 West Radio Student General Manager and the Music Assistant, the Student Performance DJ will assist with music events as needed. Responsibilities include representing the radio station at events and performing as a disk jockey and emcee. Student Performance DJs are expected to conduct themselves professionally, adhering to the standards of 22 West Radio, the CSULB Student Code of Conduct, and ASI employee policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform disk jockey services, including setting up and breaking down of equipment.
- Serve as an event host by providing station identification, event updates, and promotional announcements.
- Assist the Music Assistant in creating music playlists tailored to diverse audiences.
- Support the 22 West marketing team with tabling events to promote 22 West Media and its activities.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and submit weekly reports as outlined by the Student General Manager.
- Attend assigned training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Completion of the 22 West Media - Radio Performance DJ Internship or a passing grade on a proficiency test is required. Must be concurrently enrolled at CSULB in six or more undergraduate units (3 or more graduate units) with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Knowledge and Abilities
Successful candidates will possess knowledge of music from a wide range of genres, including current trends and formats, as well as the ability to connect well with students. Must be willing to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and employees. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, dependability and punctuality are a must. Must possess the ability to be in a performance setting in front of an audience and be able to work in a diverse environment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
This applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends during the academic year. Ability to interpret and carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner. Candidate must have strong collaborative skills, be adaptable to last-minute changes and can work effectively with a wide variety of people and personalities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or sit at a desk or computer workstation and use hands and fingers to key data, operate DJ mixing equipment. The employee is frequently required to stand and be able to talk or hear in interactions with others. The employee is occasionally required to walk to other offices within the building and around the campus. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
