What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Health Safety Security and Environmental position at Associated Terminals, L.L.C.?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead and manage a team of safety professionals and other staff if allocated in collaboration with Operations Management to ensure regulatory compliance and promote best practices in areas of safety, quality, and environmental. This includes regular training sessions, safety drills, and continuous monitoring of compliance metrics.
- Monitors and ensures Company compliance with OSHA, MSHA, USCG, DEQ, EPA and other relevant regulatory agencies for all health, safety and environmental requirements
- Develop, administer, train, and monitor programs and initiatives designed to improve the safety and health of Company personnel
- Ensures Accidents/Incidents/Near Misses are properly reported and investigated, with information tracked and monitored to identify trends
- Administrator of the electronic tracking of safety data
- Performs duties as Facility Safety Officer as required
- Responsible for ensuring port security compliance for all terminal operations, as required
- Ensures all relevant safety and environmental information is tracked and documented, including action items, and corrective actions to ensure these items are completed.
- Administers and monitors the Company Drug and Alcohol Program to include data tracking, compliance, and certification.
- Assists with company-related audits as it relates to areas of oversight conducted by customers or regulatory agencies.
- Provides monthly/quarterly/annual reports as required.
- Performs tracking and effectiveness of all behavior-based safety programs to include Boom cards, proactive efforts, safety meetings, hazard hunts, etc.
- Regularly interacts with management to assist in developing a sound and effective, and proactive safety culture.
- Ensures quarterly inspections of AEDs at all locations.
- Ensures yearly inspection and certification of fire extinguishers at all locations.
- Ensures the Safety Team is trained in the medical management and transportation of injured employees.
- Works with the Training Department to develop training classes/guidance.
- Ensures subordinates are trained to perform duties.
- Works with field and administrative personnel to develop safety-based goals.
- Develop and update job descriptions for all assigned personnel.
- Maintains OSHA 300 Logs
- Assists in the promotion of Safety through various means of communication, oral, written, newsletter, and social media
- Works with Risk/Legal personnel relative to any environmental concerns or issues
- Monitor, maintain, and update compliance sites such as ISNetworld, Avetta, DISA, etc., as required by customers
- Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental policies, including best practices and permit-required inspections
- Performs other duties as assigned
