Role Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer Senior Project Manager to lead our geotechnical engineering projects from conception through completion. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of geotechnical projects including design, analysis, and construction oversight, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves both technical leadership and business development to expand our project portfolio in geotechnical engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
  • Oversee all phases of geotechnical projects from site investigation to final report and construction monitoring.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and manage resources effectively to deliver projects on time and within financial constraints.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and environmental engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Conduct and/or supervise geotechnical investigations, including soil borings, sampling, and in-situ testing.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses for foundation design, slope stability, earth retention systems, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, technical specifications, and construction plans.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for project-related issues.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and presentations.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of geotechnical engineers and field technicians.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment, promoting professional growth and innovation within the team.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control:
  • Implement QA/QC procedures for geotechnical investigations and reports to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project standards.
  • Review design documents for quality and adherence to project specifications.
  • QA/QC Lab Testing
  • Assist with Lab accreditation

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale geotechnical projects.
  • Certifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, practices, and software
  • Slope stability
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
