SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist or Nurse Practitioner will perform detailed clinical assessments based on individual patient needs upon physician referral and will develop a comprehensive plan-of-care based on findings following physical therapy evaluation. Restores patient's function, alleviates pain and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy.

Requirements :

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION / COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Perform new-patient evaluations / exams.
  • Create individualized care plans for each treatment.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with pelvic floor disorders.
  • Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.
  • Administers physical therapy treatments.
  • Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments by evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending assistive equipment.
  • Educate patients on self-care techniques.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient records.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimize care.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and / or violations to a supervisor and / or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

For Physical Therapists, the requirements are :

  • Current State licensure for the practice of physical therapy.
  • For Nurse Practitioner, the requirements are :

  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
  • RN and APN license and certification required by state.
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • Board Certification from an appropriate certifying body (e.g., AANP, ANCC).
  • Certification in Pelvic Health (e.g., PRPC, Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification) preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to physical therapy practices.

  • Communicates orally and in writing with Providers, Medical Assistants and other personnel and agencies concerned with patient care.
  • Strong knowledge of pelvic floor anatomy, physiology, and related dysfunctions.
  • Ability to handle sensitive topics with professionalism and empathy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to utilizie specialized techniques to enhance pelvic floor function.
  • Knowledge of pelvic floor therapy and urogynecology.
  • Demonstrated organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    For Physical Therapists, the requirements are :

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
  • For Nurse Practitioner, the requirements are :

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN, DNP, or equivalent) from an accredited program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Women's Health, Urology, or a related specialty.
  • Pelvic health-related coursework or certification is highly desirable.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    For Physical Therapists, the requirements are :

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist.
  • Experience in women’s health, urology, or related fields is preferred.
  • For Nurse Practitioner, the requirements are :

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting, with preference for experience in pelvic floor health, women’s health, urology, or related specialties.
  • Experience in pelvic floor rehabilitation or related therapies is a plus.
  • Urology experience preferred.
