Truck Driver Job Description
JOB FOCUS :
The truck driver may deliver groceries to retail grocery stores in a multi state region, following appropriate safety procedures when transporting goods, and all Federal and State laws. Will coordinate with the warehouse and the customer to provide excellent customer service.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Will operate a tractor trailer to transport product from one destination to another and returns with either the original trailer or a drop trailer.
- Inspects Tractor-Trailer for defects before and after trips and submits a report indicating the results of this inspection.
- Maintains a drivers' log in accordance with DOT regulations and complies with Federal rules and regulations.
- Check all load related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered.
- Maneuver trucks into loading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Will transport product to location, then assist with unloading product manually or with the use of material handling equipment.
- Report accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles or trailers immediately.
- Safety : Promote a safe work environment ensuring that all department employees are adhering to OSHA and company safety policies. Accident prevention must be considered an inseparable part of everyday operations. Set safety goals annually as part of the career / personal development plan and develop action plans to achieve those goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS :
The average frequency of cases weigh 20 pounds, frequently cases could weigh 30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds and rarely 100 pounds.. Considerable physical unloading will occur on track unload stores. Pallet unload stores will still require some physical unloading. In most situations the driver will be required to crank the dollies down on the trailer, unhook from that trailer to complete the trip.
