Position Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist work involves the performance of Obstetric and Gynecologic ultrasound procedures utilizing high frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities. Produce results for use by the ordering providers in the diagnosis and management of their patients. The work has a significant impact on the quality of health care provided to the patient.
Primary responsibilities:
- Independently perform diagnostic sonography, including Obstetrical and Gynecological and occasionally, Abdominal examinations following the sonography guidelines stated in the Associates for Women’s Medicine, Imaging Division, Procedure & Protocol manual.
- Receive patient; explain procedure; prepare and position patient, selecting appropriate transducer for the exam.
- Evaluate clinical history to select proper scanning technique.
- Verify images taken, making sure the information regarding patient name and identification number are accurate, and labeling of anatomic structures is correct.
- Create the written report to be reviewed by the imaging physician and ordering provider.
- Responsible for assisting the providers with special scan procedures such as Sonohysterography and Amniocentesis.
- Keep equipment clean and maintain sufficient inventory of gels and miscellaneous accessories.
- Responsible for following the Associates for Women’s Medicine Employee Manual guidelines and maintaining a good working relationship with all of the practices serviced by the Imaging division.
- Will maintain active status with the ARDMS by fulfilling continuing education requirements.
Required skills/education:
- Current registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Bachelor's degree
- Valid NYS driver's license

- Hourly range $32.00-37.00 per hour DOE

- Ability to operate telephone system, simple lab equipment, computer system.
