Patient Accounts Representative

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for handling inbound and outbound calls relating to patient accounts as well as assisting with account issues and other areas of need. In this Patient Accounts Representative position, you will also be responsible for obtaining insurance eligibility. The selected candidate should possess a friendly personality for they will interact daily with patients and insurance companies as a representative of this practice.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Medical terminology including ICD-10 and CPT coding;
• Health information management systems (HIPPA regulations);
• Operation of personal computer including Microsoft Software applications, scheduling software, spreadsheet tools, medical and electronic medical record systems, and scanning systems.

QUALIFICATIONS – Required:

• High school diploma – or GED;
• One (1) year experience in the healthcare industry required;
• Medical billing experience/insurance knowledge preferred;
• Working knowledge of medical collection processes, medical EOB’s, and standard software programs preferred;
• Attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with compassion;

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Answer inbound calls referring to patient accounts;
• Review accounts with outstanding balances or incorrect balances;
• Pursue open balances from appropriate patients and make payment arrangements with patients;
• Interact with insurance companies and their representatives;
• Verify patient eligibility;
• Must be able to multi-task and problem solve;
• Responsible for additional functions as requested.

Job Type: Full-time
