What are the responsibilities and job description for the GN&C Modeling and Simulation Lead Engineer position at Associates Systems LLC?
This position will work with developing on-orbit Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) simulations in support of Commercial Visiting Vehicle missions to the International Space Station (ISS).
The selected applicant will:
- Lead a team of engineers in CCP GN&C simulation development activities
- Identify and assign team simulation tasks to resolve simulation related issues, assist team members as needed
- Maintain a project schedule and report status to the customer and Project Lead/Management
- Provide math modeling and simulation development, integration and testing of commercial visiting vehicle GN&C systems
- Develop formal math model and simulation documentation
- Directly interact with the NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups
- Perform other duties as required

- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school with five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a Masters degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school.
Skills and experience should demonstrate:
- Experience with Linux, C/C and/or Python
- Experience with version control systems, git
- Experience developing, verifying, and validating math models and simulations
- Ability to apply knowledge and experience towards timely completion of technical products and services
- Experience in technical leadership of simulation software development teams
- Excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees
- Strong leadership skills
Requisition Preferences:
- Orbital mechanics and GN&C principles
- Spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking
- Experience with Git/GitLab
- Previous experience with simulation visualization and graphics packages, particularly JSC EDGE or DOUG
- Experience with:
- JSC TRICK Simulation Environment
- JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics) modeling package
- LaTeX
- TCP/IP socket programming
- Experience in product delivery and management utilizing source code management tools
- Experience performing Monte Carlo simulation and analysis
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with project management tools, resource estimation, and risk management
