Responsibilities :
- Manages organizational strategy and advises the executive director of BAMPFA.
- Serves as Director of Administration and Strategic Initiatives and coordinates the activities of the Museum’s executive leadership team to achieve the Director’s strategic objectives.
- Leads long and short range planning for all operations and administration of BAMPFA.
- Determines and establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships for new programs and / or restructuring activities.
- Manages and implements cross-departmental strategic initiatives including DEAI, disability access, staff morale, and reaccreditation.
- Develops processes and criteria for the review of museum’s financial plans.
- Provides guidance to leadership regarding funding, new venture development and other resource acquisitions.
- Manages, plans and administers administrative operations and / or general operations of BAMPFA.
- Manages staff, human resources, finance, information systems, space planning and facilities.
- Ensures that systems are in place and current to safeguard and secure assets and museum acts according to best practices.
- Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives that have department-wide impact.
- Manages, develops and oversees all finance and budgets in consultation with Executive Director and Business Office Manager.
- Serves as Chief of Staff and coordinates the activities of the divisional leadership team to achieve the Director’s strategic objectives.
- Serves as key administrative officer for unit’s functional programs, oversees analysis and policy development for issues and processes.
- Develops, modifies, and executes organization policies which affect immediate operation(s).
- Establishes policies and procedures in all administrative areas listed above and recommends changes to policies which affect the museum.
- May interact with higher-level management on matters concerning several functional areas.
- Acts as liaison to campus (both Berkeley and systemwide).
- Represents the museum at the campus and community level.
- Improves and maintains stakeholder relations in key communities on the Berkeley campus and beyond.
- Maintains integrity of an organizational department through hiring, management, and oversight of staff.
