Exhibitions and Publications Project Manager – Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University, CA

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Exhibitions and Publications Project Manager will lead the implementation of the museum’s exhibition program and print and digital publications. The exhibition program includes temporary exhibitions with national and international loans, as well as permanent collection installations with scheduled rotations, with a sustained commitment to our recently launched, ongoing Asian American Art Initiative. The successful candidate will work with the exhibition teams for each exhibition and publication project, working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders including Curatorial, Conservation, Installation, Registration, Operations, Marketing and PR, Development, Programming, and Finance.

In this role, you will :

  • Manage the overall planning, implementation, and execution of exhibitions and publications, including generating production schedules for labels and graphic installations.
  • Oversee the exhibition team’s project timelines / workstreams and be responsible for the project deliverables in all phases of the exhibition planning and execution.
  • Prepare budgets, approve and track exhibition and publication expenses, and create reports.
  • Establish communication, generate positive relations, track information, and follow through on details with lenders, artists, participating venues, contractors, and relevant staff members.
  • Source contractors and vendors for exhibition graphic design and installation according to the exhibition project needs.
  • Draft and execute exhibition and publication-related agreements in consultation with the Deputy Director and Stanford Legal.
  • Serve as a liaison and provide editorial coordination and copy-edit / review as appropriate for publications.
  • Assist with building an exhibition process that is streamlined and allows for the successful planning of major exhibitions 3-5 years out.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the exhibition archives, physical and digital.
  • Represent exhibitions and publications as the key contact and subject matter expert within Cantor.

Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on campus 3-4 days per week depending on events. In addition, this position may require working evenings and weekends.

In order to be successful, you will bring :

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and EmbARK (or similar collection database).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • The expected pay range for this position is $64,480 – 100,000 per annum.
