Social Worker
Job Description: Gilbert L Sena Charter High School is a free, public charter school located at 69 Hotel Circle NE, Albuquerque NM, serving 160 high school students. Our school oers secondary students a comprehensive, hybrid accelerated learning model, earning 8 credits per year. We prepare our graduates for positions in which not only of interest to them, but an individualized career path that is meaningful.
One Opening is available: One Full Time Social Worker. This is a full-time, exempt, at-will position.
The Social Worker reports directly to the Principal.
Anticipated Start Date is July 15th, 2025.
SUMMARY: The Social Worker plays a critical role in assisting students in overcoming social, emotional, and environmental barriers to learning while fostering healthy, eective relationships within the school community. The Social Worker will prioritize and demonstrate flexibility in decision-making in response to the unique needs of students. Establishing meaningful connections to the school community is a key indicator of success in this role.

? Experience working with communities aected by high levels of adverse childhood experiences.
? Knowledge and experience working with Medicaid, McKinney-Vento, and IEP documentation.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
? Ability to design and deliver eective classroom instruction and curriculum for both students and adults.
? Ability to establish rapport and work with diverse populations both in-person and on the phone.

? Understanding of district policies related to immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The employee must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
Counseling and Case Management:
? Provide family assessments, crisis intervention, and individual and family counseling.
? Connect students and families with external resources, ensuring follow-up on services provided.
? Cultivate a culture of trust within the Early Warning System for students experiencing homelessness and ensure coordination of services.
? Establish and maintain relationships with students, families, and community organizations.
? Maintain consistent communication with parents regarding students’ academic, social, and behavioral progress.
? Act as the case manager for individual and group cases, coordinating eorts as needed.
? Assess and report the eectiveness of school social work services as necessary.
? Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Instruction:
? Collaborate with the Early Warning System team and special education team to provide strategies and support for truant students through intervention meeting and goals for students with special needs Program Leadership:
? Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, and other school sta.
? Develop and deliver in-service programs for school and district sta as well as the community.
? Uphold and enforce district and state educational codes, rules, policies, and regulations.
? Facilitate the implementation of the school’s mission and values, ensuring that they align with the broader goals of the community.
? Safeguard confidentiality and ensure the privacy of sensitive information.
? Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and district policy.
? Maintain responsibility for inventory and safe use of facilities and supplies, reporting hazards as necessary.
? Work cooperatively with colleagues, the community, and other professionals to foster a positive school culture.
? Pursue professional development and growth through training and educational opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
? Master’s degree in Social Work.
? Valid New Mexico State Board of Education license in Social Work (601).
? Valid New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners license.
MINIMUM REQUIRED PRE-EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
? Successful completion of a physical examination.
? Satisfactory completion of criminal background verification.
