Director of Studio and Performing Arts

Landon seeks a full-time Director of Studio and Performing Arts for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates from diverse backgrounds and perspectives who can inspire and engage boys are encouraged to apply.

The Director of Studio and Performing Arts will be Landon’s champion for the arts across campus and amongst various constituents including current and prospective students and families, alumni, and outside organizations. The Director will lead and manage the School’s Studio and Performing Arts programs, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, artistic expression, and excellence. This role involves facilities and budget management, curriculum development, event planning, and collaboration with faculty, students, and the community, and requires the Director to be available for evening and weekend events as needed. This is a 12-month position.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development

  • Manage and evolve a comprehensive studio and performing arts curriculum that aligns with the School’s educational goals, standards, and Core Values.
  • Encourage the continued development of lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to various skill levels and artistic disciplines.
  • Stay updated with current trends and best practices in arts education to continuously improve the program, including thoughtful, developmentally appropriate repertoire and production selection.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other faculty members to integrate arts into the broader curriculum.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between the arts department and other schoolwide departments. Work together to support student-athletes who participate in both sports and arts, ensuring they can balance their commitments.
  • Collaborate with Holton-Arms School on various performing arts events in theater and music.
  • Event Coordination

  • Organize and oversee performances, exhibitions, and other arts-related events.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including scheduling, venue setup, and technical requirements with facilities team.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and external partners to ensure successful event execution.
  • Resource Management

  • Manage the budget for the arts program, including purchasing supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee inventory of art materials, instruments, costumes, and other resources.
  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of studio and performance spaces.
  • Community Outreach

  • Build relationships with local arts organizations and professionals to enhance the program and provide students with additional opportunities.
  • Organize field trips, guest artist visits, and workshops to expose students to diverse artistic experiences.
  • Promote Landon’s arts program within the community through various outreach activities including fundraising.
  • Instruction

  • Teach studio and / or performing arts class such as drama, music, and / or visual arts.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students to help them achieve their artistic potential.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Student Engagement

  • Inspire and mentor students, encouraging their artistic growth and participation in the arts.
  • Create opportunities for students to showcase their work, such as art shows, recitals, and competitions.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and motivated.
  • Qualifications

  • Education : Preference given to Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching and administrative experience, with a proven track record of facilities management, budget oversight, fundraising, program development and event coordination.
  • Skills : Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. An ability to inspire and engage students of all ages.
