Work Location: Hybrid - In Salem office minimally once per week
The Association of Oregon Community Health Programs is seeking applicants for a full time Coordinator to lead the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Oregon and Oregon Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (OCALM) training programs.
The Training Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to MHFA and OCALM trainers, building state and local partnerships in support of these programs, and to track and report activities to ensure that program objectives are met.
The successful candidate will be expected to become certified as a MHFA Instructor and trained in OCALM to effectively support these programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and coordinate program activities to support MHFA and OCALM trainers.
- Design and facilitate monthly Learning Collaborative meetings for each of the trainer groups.
- Develop instructor resource network and supports.
- Collect and report MHFA and OCALM activity data from statewide network of instructors.
- Provide technical assistance to instructors/trainers with trainer portal access, course submission, course troubleshooting, and certification requirements.
- Field training requests to support trainers and organizations by recruiting instructors, co-facilitators, and setting up training logistics.
- Support outreach to potential state and local partners to strengthen support for MHFA and OCALM.
- Assist trainers with course preparation and materials. Provide information about course support to organizations/trainers.
- Support promotion of MHFA, OCALM, and other trainings to various groups at conferences, workshops, and community events and provide information through tabling opportunities.
- Assist with planning and recruiting for instructor trainings to expand geographic representation and community needs of instructor pools in Oregon, as funding allows
- Plan and host MHFA and OCALM Training of Trainers as required to increase access to trainings statewide and to increase the number of trainers.
- Support Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Oregon CALM Conversations training programs as funding and programs are available.
- Track and report program progress to Oregon Health Authority and other funding agencies/organizations.
- Initiate efforts to reach populations with insufficient penetration: Veterans, Tribes and communities who speak Spanish as a first language.
- Provide support to other programs as needed and time permits.
Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other productivity tools.
- Experience in website content creation, management, and updates.
- Skilled in outreach, stakeholder engagement, and community building.
- Comfortable with public speaking, presentations, and facilitating discussions.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data for reporting and decision-making.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Education required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field: Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, etc.
Experience required:
- At least 3 years’ project coordination/management experience in related field.
- Current Mental Health First Aid instructor certification or OCALM certification preferred.
Travel requirements:
Position based in Salem; Some travel in Oregon will be required to assist with MHFA courses, instructor trainings, and promotional events, estimated to be once per month.
Salary:
Minimum starting salary is $60,000. Higher starting salary is commensurate with experience.
