Description
Summary: Directly supervises employees and the construction of AVCP Projects in the region as onsite superintendent. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Construct local transportation project in accordance with the approved construction plans and specifications.
- Prepare project labor coding on timesheets in accordance with plans, specifications, and estimate.
- Prepare material take off, labor summaries and project schedule for construction projects.
- Understanding construction logistics in rural Alaska.
- Ensure project safety plans are followed and OSHA construction requirements are met onsite.
- Ensure storm water plans are being followed and the appropriate documentation prepared.
- Ensure traffic control plans are being implemented in accordance with MUTCD.
- Prepare weekly and daily reports documenting the project.
- Coordinate and work with Tribal Council, City Council and other political entities within the community to construct the project.
- Work with the Human Resources Department, Transportation Director to hire, supervise, discipline, and if require fire onsite employees.
- Interact with the general public maintaining a professional attitude and working relationship.

Requirements:
- Supervisory Experience
- Proof (evidence) of construction supervisory experience — minimum 5 years' experience
- Provide resume of previous employment with references
- Show proficiency with heavy equipment operation on a range of heavy equipment
- Show proficiency with heavy earthwork construction
Other Skills and Abilities: Yup'ik speaking preferred.
