    The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of all GS alumni activities and events, including GS Reunion Weekend / Dean's Day program, Giving Day, and Homecoming in coordination with OAD, CAA, and other University partners. Ensures that programs and events meet the highest possible standards within given budget requirements.

    The incumbent will work closely with the GS alumni leaders, including the General Studies Alumni Association, and associated committees and the General Studies Student Council, as well as other key volunteers, and staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the day-to-day administration of GS alumni needs. Develop strategic and innovative opportunities for increased alumni engagement for GS. In partnership with OAD colleagues, ensure alumni relations efforts align with and further the goals of the school. Partner with OAD colleagues to ensure GS alumni are represented on the CAA boards and committees as well as at events and signature programs.
    • Serve as primary liaison to the General Studies Alumni Association, the Reunion Committee and the General Studies Student Council, as well as other key volunteers and staff.
    • Function as project manager for the planning and implementation of the GS Reunion Weekend / Dean's Day program. This includes developing the weekend schedule and implementation plan; managing the venue selection process; securing faculty and alumni speakers; coordinating the weekend's internal and external marketing; creating the Reunion website; drafting class committee communications; participating in the Reunion Committee meetings in partnership with the GS Development partners as well as campus partners; maintaining the budget; and overseeing registration, logistics, staffing and on-site execution.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Communication, develop and implement a communications plan for engaging the alumni community and raising awareness for the range of alumni relations programming and benefits, including monthly communications for alumni and families of the School.
    • Under supervision of the Associate Dean, responsible for the development and tracking of budgets and expense summaries, ensuring that programs and events meet the highest possible standards within given budget requirements.
    • Work closely with GS student team to create student and alumni programming, including programming that supports the needs and interests of the GS student body including the student to alumni transition.
    • Coordinate with GS admissions team on all alumni needs for prospective student events locally and regionally, including managing the GS Alumni Ambassadors Program.
    • Supervise data management, transfer and reporting systems to coordinate and track all event attendance details. Maintain and analyze event reports and statistics. Other associated duties and projects as assigned.
    • COMPLETES ADDITIONAL PROJECTS AND PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED OR REQUESTED.
    • This position requires evening and weekend work and travel as necessary.
    • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years related experience is required.
    • Four or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
    • Budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
    • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required.
    • Excellent public speaking ability.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work in a pressured environment essential.
    • Understanding of working in a complex academic environment highly desirable.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy, sensitivity and mature judgement are essential.
    • Confidentiality and discretion are required.
    • Must be professional, organized, creative and efficient and able to work successfully as part of a team.
