POSITION SUMMARY :

This position is the chief management leader for the New England Section of the American Water Works Association (NE-AWWA), responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic growth of the organization. This is a remote position.
REPORTS TO :
The position reports to the Section Board of Trustees (Board) and under the general supervision of the Chair of New England Section (or designee as provided by the New England Section Chair), the Executive Director directs and oversees all functions of the organization.
DUTIES :
Management and oversight of day-to-day operations of the Section, NE-AWWA point of contact, development of membership outreach and support, assist in development and execution of training and educational programs, contract negotiations, office administration, collaboration with NE-AWWA Board to revise and manage Section policies, budgeting, financial reporting, planning and marketing events, fund raising, implementation of strategic plan, and management of communications. Other duties as assigned by the Section Board and / or Chair.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Leadership and Management :
Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the Board to function properly, and to make informed decisions.
Organization Mission and Strategy :
Execute the Board’s adopted strategic plan, in collaboration with the Board.
Financial Management :
Oversee preparation and management of the Section’s budget with the Treasurer. Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee to oversee all matters that pertain to the financial health and management of the Section including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements, tax filings, financial review, investment management, and all necessary bookkeeping and record keeping activities. Review, negotiate and sign all Board approved agreements and contracts entered into on behalf of the organization.
Membership Development :
Work collaboratively with Association staff and volunteers to support membership growth and retention. Assist committees and staff in organizing and promoting member engagement / outreach events to help ensure targeted attendance and participation.
Training and Education :
Oversee the execution of member forums, webinars, training programs, and conferences, including awarding of professional education credits. Oversee the development of new program offerings to meet the changing needs of members.
Communications :
Act as a spokesperson for all media, public engagements, and stakeholder settings. Work with staff and volunteers to create and implement Section communication strategies. Serve as Managing Editor of the Section website and Section e-newsletter.
General :
Participate and attend AWWA and NE-AWWA meetings. Participate and attend local and national nonprofit and association management, and leadership seminars, conferences, and webinars, as approved by the Board.
