The Translational Science and Therapeutics (TST) Division of Fred Hutch is seeking a candidate with a laboratory-based program focused on Cancer Immunology for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT) at 100% FTE. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments, and associate and full professors WOT hold indefinite appointments, that all align with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This position is paid directly by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and receives no UW compensation. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.

The primary appointment will be with Fred Hutch. Academic appointment at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Teaching opportunities include oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community.

The successful candidate will be engaged in laboratory-based research investigating translational cellular therapies. The selected individual will foster an environment of collaboration and productivity in cancer cell therapy.

Applicants must have a medical degree (MD / PhD welcomed), or foreign equivalent, board certification in Medical Oncology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Candidates must have expertise in cancer immunology and demonstrate a track record of peer-reviewed publications in the cancer immunology field and success in obtaining extramural funding. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
