POSITION PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of the Group Counselor is to provide psycho-social rehabilitative services (PSR), focused on social skills. The Counselor provides services on-site or at other available location(s) as determined by the Clinical Director and Program Coordinator. The counselor provides services to a range of diverse client groups including children and adolescents. The counselor participates in multidisciplinary treatment teams to target individualized treatment plans and assist in other services being provided by paraprofessionals and professionals qualified and licensed members of the Community Mental Health Center.
Responsibilities
- As a Group Behavioral Counselor, you will:
- Conducting assessments to understand clients' mental health needs, including their behavioral patterns, emotional state, and life circumstances.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs, goals, and progress.
- Facilitate group counseling sessions for youth, addressing behavioral, emotional, and social challenges.
- Develop and implement structured group activities and therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of participants.
- Foster a supportive group environment that promotes open communication, trust, and collaboration among participants.
- Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., therapists, social workers, educators) to ensure holistic care for youth.
- Monitor and document participant progress, preparing detailed reports for program records and clinical review.
- Address crises and behavioral issues during sessions using de-escalation techniques and therapeutic strategies.
- Educate youth on coping strategies, conflict resolution, and positive behavioral techniques.
- To document for 12-15 clients each day
- Maintaining MANDATORY detailed documentation of clients' progress, treatment plans, and any changes in their behavior or mental health status.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and agency policies. and effectiveness (Community Outreach programs).
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Driving/Transporting Clients (As Required)
Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. (Required)
- Previous experience in a mental health setting, preferably in a PSR program.
- State Certified Behavioral Health Technician. (Required)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of best practices in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery-oriented care.
