What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Use Disorder Services Clinical Supervisor position at Assured Family Services?
JOB SUMMARY :
The Substance Use Disorder Services Clinical Supervisor (SUDSCS) is responsible for providing substance abuse treatment, assessment, evaluation and referral services to youth in Wayne County’s Juvenile Justice system and to adults referred from the Child Welfare system to AFS. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting alcohol and other drug (AOD) screens, administering the GAIN assessment, conducting substance abuse individual and group counseling sessions, and supervising all master’s level and CAADC credentialed clinicians who deliver the aforementioned services. The SUDSCS will report directly to the AFS’ Director of Substance Use Services.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES :
Effectively demonstrates working knowledge of Wayne County’s Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare Systems.
Demonstrates punctuality on a regular basis, with minimal tardiness and absences without previously informing the Director of SAS.
Consistently ensures that all AOD / GAIN information is entered accurately in JAIS, in a timely manner, with applicable information delivered to all interested parties; facilitates rapport with parties regarding these cases.
Consistently facilitates efficient entry into the substance abuse delivery system.
Accurately maintains proper records and generates reports as required for courts.
Maintain Chestnut GAIN local trainer certification.
Ensures that all weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner to respective agencies (i.e., AFS, courts, etc.).
Demonstrates excellent clinical skills in the administration of the AFS assessment instruments.
Consistently ensures that the daily overall operations are carried out according to policies and procedures, including scheduling of AFS staff.
Regularly review attendance log on each employee to monitor timeliness and absences.
Demonstrates the ability to recruit, interview and hire employees.
Trains new hires and ensures that all AFS policies and procedures are effectively communicated and that employees understand the job responsibilities needed to succeed in each position.
Maintains appropriate paperwork and documentation for each employee (training hours, training updates, corrective actions, individual goals, and outcomes, etc.); conducts annual performance appraisals for staff in a timely manner.
Communicates ideas and suggestions to improve performance areas within the listed job descriptions or the department as a whole.
Is available for staff to ask questions, address issues, and receive advice regarding their job responsibilities and duties.
Facilitates regular staff meetings to provide valuable information and staff support.
Undertakes additional projects and demonstrates appropriate leadership as necessary for supervisory staff.
Demonstrates the ability to develop staff and provides consistent support and tools for professional development.
Addresses any problems and technical situations to the Director of SAS.
QUALIFICATIONS :
A Certified Clinical Supervisor – Michigan (CCS-M) or an approved Development Plan – Supervisor (DP-S) is required. Also, an MA / MSW or related degree in mental health from an accredited school and appropriate State of Michigan licensure is required. A valid CAADC required. Three to five years supervisory experience preferred. The ability to demonstrate a high value for accountability, accuracy and reliability are a must. Must have exemplary organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal. Strong computer skills a must.
Must have knowledge of Systems of Care philosophy and principals.
