Lidu Academy, a new initiative by the Assyrian Cultural Foundation, aims to provide high-quality early childhood education that fosters cultural awareness and community growth. Our state-of-the-art facility in Lincolnwood is designed to promote learning and social-emotional development in young children. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to oversee our educational programs and ensure compliance with DCFS regulations.
About the Position
We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to serve as Head Teacher and Program Leader. This role combines administrative oversight with active involvement in teaching and nurturing young children. The ideal candidate will have experience in leadership roles within licensed day care centers, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Administrative Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with all DCFS regulations and licensing requirements.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe and productive environment.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and record-keeping.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians regarding inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
- Educational Leadership:
- Design and oversee developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that promote learning and social-emotional development.
- Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of teaching methods and curriculum effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for teaching staff.
- Lead, nurture, and guide new educators as they go through their training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a licensed day care center setting; 5 years of leadership experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Meet the educational requirements specified by DCFS: Associate degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (or equivalent as defined by DCFS).
- Completion of required DCFS training programs and certifications (e.g., Lead Safety Training, Mandated Reporter Training).
- Strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
