What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer position at AST SpaceMobile?
AST SpaceMobile and our global partners are building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network to be accessible by standard smartphones. Called SpaceMobile, this ultra-powerful network is being designed to provide connectivity at 4G / 5G speeds everywhere on the planet – on land, at sea and in flight.
Summary :
The RF Engineer will apply various RF technologies to design RF system and / or subsystem including all the way from antennas to digital baseband and modem. This role is responsible for assisting and / or lead other relevant engineers in the organization and need to communicate / coordinate with various vendors and international teams in the other countries. This position requires a deep understanding of basic RF concepts such as impedance, gain, S-parameter, linearity, noise figure, isolation, and SNR, EVM and link budget. Also requires understanding RF equipment limitation and usages for RF test and how to perform RF test. Hands-on experience would be greatly beneficial in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Perform trade off study for various rf system and / or sub system architecture.
- RF design on the PCB level would be a big plus.
- Conduct RF component and system level of testing with rf equipment for space applications
- Conduct RF test with TVAC and Thermal Chamber
- Assist teams in decision making for equipment needed.
- Provide integration support of equipment on the satellite level.
