The purpose of this position is to support production manufacturing through root cause analysis and implementing of machine repair countermeasures, as well as interacting with production departments to develop and improve manufacturing. The Casting Engineer will focus on troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, optimizing production equipment, and recommending improvements to production processes to meet production goals and quality requirements. This position will mainly oversee issues within the Casting department of our plant.

Position Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to production departments: 10%
- Schedule and coordinate timely preventive maintenance of equipment: 10%
- Countermeasure and machine repair implementation: 15%
- Interact with the production departments to develop and improve manufacturing: 25%
- Identify cost-savings and quality improvement projects in area: 20%
- Produce reports to show the impact of activities and attend meetings as required: 10%
- Maintain accurate documentation of processes and designs: 5%
- Liaison between production and Engineering: 5%
- BS in Mechanical, Industrial or Technical Engineering
- Very good written and verbal communication skills and Microsoft office tools
- Previous use/understanding of lean concepts
- Strong, proven problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of computer systems and spreadsheets necessary to perform job duties
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required
- Inventor or other 3D modeling / design experience is required
- At least 18 years of age
- Knowledge of CNC and PLC systems and programming
- Knowledge of Robots (Motoman)
- Demonstrated Die Casting knowledge
- Troubleshooting for surface die cast issues
- Machines, valves and vacuum systems knowledge
- Knowledge of Casting processes
- Magnesium & Aluminum high pressure as well as Gravity die cast experience
- Must have proven ability to: make sound business decisions; exercise good judgment; be highly motivated
- Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, high level of accuracy

- Develops & controls department or corporate budgets and approves expenditures
- Maintains clean & orderly work environment

- Improves manufacturing proficiency levels to meet plant goals and objectives
- Coordinates and recommends cost savings ideas and efficiency for the facility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of organization needed
- Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility and operating condition effects
- Evaluate and implement integrated processes and documentation on specific manufacturing line
- Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, components or products on specific manufacturing lines
- Confer with higher level engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
- Maintain functional knowledge of processes, procedures and equipment
- Utilize and maintain effective written and verbal communication skills and techniques and to effectively interact with all levels of organization
- Clearly communicate through written and verbal skills with people outside the department/suppliers
- Analyze test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management of staff
- Create and implement inspection testing criteria or procedures
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications which spans multiple manufacturing lines
- Will not supervise
- Intermediate experience required in MS Word, Glovia, PLC, CNC, and AutoCAD
- Intermediate experience required in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Intermediate experience in Windows and MS Word is preferred
- Advanced level experience in MS Excel and PowerPoint is preferred
- Ability to work for extended periods of time while sitting
- Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday
- Ability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds
- Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
