Job Summary A Resident Assistant is responsible to provide basic care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Executive Director. Perform duties which include, but are not limited to, feed, bathe, dress, groom, administer medications, or change linens.
Tasks
- Awakens resident and assists them with dressing and getting ready for the day.
- Assists residents with daily functioning, if required.
- Monitors resident’s personal hygiene efforts.
- Assists residents in showering and bathing and follows scheduled showering times.
- Observes and notes/reports and skin conditions, sores, mental or physical changes.
- Answers resident’s emergency response system call signals.
- Assists other staff with setting up dining room for meals.
- Assists residents to dining areas during meal times if needed, and other areas of the building throughout the day.
- Serves resident’s at meal time and assists them with eating.
- Clears tables after each meal, disinfects tables, and resets tables for next meal as well as vacuuming dining room after each meal.
- Refills condiments in dining room as needed.
- Completes laundry of soiled linens as needed.
- As delegated by Registered Nurse, assumes direct supervision of keys for medication cabinets.
- As delegated by Registered Nurse, administers and monitors resident medications and notes in personal care plan variations, problems, and concerns observed.
- Records BMs daily and blood pressure, weight once a week on shower day (unless otherwise ordered by a physician) on flow sheets.
- As delegated by Registered Nurse, notes medication supply and advises Director when supply is nearly depleted.
- Facilitates group activity as scheduled and cleans up after activity is completed.
- Provides oral report to shift change personnel as well as reads and initials shift change notes.
- Assists residents in laying down for rest times and bed-time at night.
- Makes rounds during the shift to check on residents’ status.
- Assists in making resident beds when needed.
- Assists housekeeping when needed.
- Spends time socializing with tenants.
- Collects soiled towels and washcloths and replaces with new set each morning.
- Assisted residents with clean-up in any instance of toileting problems.
- Other tasks may be assigned on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is desired, but not required.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position listed above including the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, walking, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to move intermittently up to eight hours throughout the day.

Pay: $15.50 - $17.50 per hour
