Job Description:
General Description
A flow cytometry lab assistant helps with the daily operations of a flow cytometry lab. This includes, but is not limited to, receiving and accessioning samples, preparing samples for analysis, preparing samples to be sent out.
Core Responsibilities
- Receive and accession samples
- File and maintain records
- Stock lab supplies
- Assist with inventory management
- Process and handle send out tests
- Prepare samples for analysis
- Prepare peripheral blood smears when necessary
- Instrument setup and maintenance
Skills and experience
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems, OncoEMR a plus
- Skill with using computers for accessioning and record keeping
- Experience handling biological samples
- Ability to Multitask
- Organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and work well with others
Education and certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience within a laboratory setting
- Experience handling biological samples
- Post high school training similar in length and scope to Medical Assistant certification is a plus.
