Director of Business Development (Mental Health, Substance Use)
ROLE
The Business Development Director will play a critical role in the success of the startup mental health treatment center by developing and executing a comprehensive sales and marketing plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare business development, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently to achieve revenue goals. The Business Development Director must be able to develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and payers without a sales team and have knowledge of substance abuse and behavioral health services. The Business Development Director will be the primary point of contact for all potential referral sources and will work closely with the clinical team to ensure that clients receive high-quality care.
Duties, Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing plan to achieve revenue goals and increase client volume.
- Identify and prioritize target markets and develop strategies to attract and retain clients.
- Work directly with individuals as a treatment navigator to provide seamless transition of care.
- Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources, payers, and other key stakeholders in the community.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure alignment between business development efforts and clinical operations.
- Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement, as well as compiling and analyzing competitive data within assigned geographical regions.
- Participate in networking events and conferences to build the center's reputation, increase visibility in the community, and drive business development.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to potential referral sources and payers to promote the center's services and create lasting relationships.
- Work closely with the billing and finance team to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered (as needed).
- Submit timely CRM data, expense reports, annual strategic sales plans, and quarterly strategic sales plan updates.
- Demonstrate knowledge / adherence to state and federal confidentiality regulations.

The Business Development Director should lead and motivate the marketing team and collaborate with operational and clinical leadership to ensure positive partnerships and a good reputation in the community. (Agency-specific training can be provided)
Understand and follow facility emergency and safety procedures, respond to emergencies in a safe and effective manner, provide first aid and CPR as needed, and maintain a safe and secure environment for clients and staff. (Training can be provided via the agency)
All staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose and respond appropriately and need to be trained in the use of naloxone and other overdose reversal medications. (Training can be provided via the agency)
All staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide risk and respond appropriately and need to be trained in suicide prevention strategies. (Training can be provided via the agency)
