Description
The histology specialist or histology tech professional will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic analysis. Responsabilities : Receiving and sorting specimens : Logging and prioritizing specimens from surgical, diagnostic, or autopsy cases Embedding : Surrounding tissue with paraffin wax to prepare for cutting Cutting : Using a microtome or cryostat to cut thin slices of tissue Mounting : Placing the tissue on a slide Staining : Using dyes to emphasize abnormalities Maintaining equipment : Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on laboratory instruments Quality control : Ensuring the quality of the tissue samples and the accuracy of the results Safety : Following hospital and laboratory safety standards Data entry : Entering patient information, orders, and other data into the laboratory information system Communication : Coordinating with physicians and other staff to ensure the workflow runs smoothly

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in science related field is a plus 2-4 years of experience HT / L ASCP certification or completion of Histology Technician training course and eligible to sit for the exam is required Certification required within 1 year of hire
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
