Job Title : Payroll SpecialistJob Description
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing various payroll functions, including onboarding new employees, compiling and preparing payroll data, reviewing payroll tax deductions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. You will assist in processing garnishments, tax levy payments, and 401(k) reporting, while also auditing payroll for accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Review personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers.
- Compile and prepare seagoing payroll data.
- Compute payments and calculate data such as pension insurance and union payments.
- Review payroll tax deductions.
- Assist in preparing union payroll flow sheets.
- Review bank statements.
- Follow company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- Audit payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in processing garnishments and tax levy payments.
- Adjust errors and complaints.
- Prepare and issue payments and process direct deposits.
- Issue and mail checks.
- Assist in reconciling manual controls to computer totals.
- Oversee payroll files and records for permanent retention.
- Assist in 401(k) reporting.

Work Environment
You will be part of a team of four, which includes three payroll specialists and one payroll manager. The work environment is collaborative, and you will be provided with great benefits, including almost 80% company-paid benefits, accrued PTO with a total of 4 weeks after the first year, 10 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday.
