Purchasing Specialist
Job Description
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for procuring products and services with favorable terms, developing vendor relationships, and optimizing the movement of goods from purchasing through production to delivery. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams. The use of statistical methods and software to track performance metrics and suggest improvements is essential.
Responsibilities
Support Project Management, Manufacturing, and Service functions with on-schedule procurement of mechanical and electrical components / services.
Negotiate pricing, delivery, and payment terms, as well as cancellation / return / warranty policies.
Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure required performance is achieved and continuously improved.
Assist QC / Receiving function with resolution of product or documentation discrepancies.
Provide Project Managers with timely updates on the status of procurement for their respective projects.
Support Product Management and Sales functions by obtaining quotations for materials / services for project proposals.
Coordinate with Engineering and Design functions to identify opportunities for product training or technical information sessions.
Identify inefficiencies in Supply Chain processes and propose improvements.
Revise and create new procedural documents.
Essential Skills
5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
ERP experience.
Experience processing purchase orders.
Strong attention to detail.
Qualifications
Associate degree in supply chain management or related field, or equivalent experience with 3 years in a procurement manufacturing environment.
Experience working with an ERP system, preferably Syteline.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of company structure.
Awareness of and prior experience with Continuous Improvement (CI).
Prior Lean / Six Sigma experience.
Experience in steel, electronics, or valves is a plus.
Experience with temperature control units or fermenters is a plus.
Ability to read blueprints is a plus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46 / hr.
