Server Assistant
Main Role
As a Barback at Astor Club, you will play a key role in supporting the flow of dinner service by running food, assisting with table maintenance, and ensuring a seamless guest experience. You will collaborate closely with the bar team to maintain Astor Club’s high standards of luxury hospitality, helping create a smooth and enjoyable dining atmosphere. Your knowledge of our wine selection and ability to assist with wine service will also be an important part of this role.
Compensation:
At Astor Club, compensation is structured differently from most restaurants. We prioritize both guest satisfaction and a stable income for our staff. Server Assistants earn $22/hour, and a fixed 20% service fee is charged to patrons. While this fee is pooled to ensure all staff are working together to deliver exceptional service, members can still choose to tip, and any additional tips are also shared among the front-of-house team.
Qualities Required:
- 1 year of experience in a fine dining or luxury service environment preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the service team by running food from the kitchen to the dining room, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Assist with wine service, including pouring wine and helping guests with wine pairings based on guidance from servers and sommeliers.
- Maintain tables throughout service, including clearing and resetting between courses and ensuring water and wine glasses remain full.
- Work closely with bar staff to anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to any requests.
- Assist with pre-service setup and post-service cleanup, ensuring that the dining room is properly prepared for guests.
- Be attentive to guest preferences, ensuring a personalized and refined dining experience.
Service Responsibilities:
- Ensure all food and beverages are presented and delivered according to Astor Club’s high standards.
- Help manage table settings by clearing plates, replenishing cutlery, and maintaining a clean and organized service environment.
- Communicate with the kitchen to coordinate food delivery and ensure all dishes are served at the appropriate times.

- Assist with the preparation and breakdown of the dining room, including setting up tables and ensuring all necessary items are stocked.
- Be available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Safely transport food and beverages, handle exposure to liquids, and manage service equipment.
- Stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift up to 50lbs when required.
