Head Start is a federally funded program for children from low-income families. It is a preschool developmental program of early childhood education and ancillary services including health (physical, dental, mental), nutrition, and social services, with extensive parental involvement and participation. Children with disabilities are served within a fully integrated setting with non-disabled children.
As Astor's Primary Prevention Specialist , you are responsible for serving on the Early Childhood Mental Health team to support the social and emotional well-being of head Start and Early Head Start children, families, and staff. The position works closely with the behavior specialist and school psychologists to share information and prioritize the needs of the child. This position requires travel to multiple sites and home visits which may be in homes with animals or allergens.

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field.
- Experience with early childhood and in an educational setting preferred.
- Valid NYS driver’s license required.
