We’re partnered with an industry leading Engineering firm to identify a GIS Technician.
Responsibilities
- Create, collect, convert, and place graphical features in client GIS systems such as ESRI / ARC GIS, 3GIS, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Review project scopes, identify needs, and direct the QC/Data Management of projects.
- Prepare drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3-D, Microstation, or other integrated electronic drawing packages as required.
- Configure & run geoprocessing tools to detect and correct missing or inaccurate data.
- Set up and train other staff on the use of GPS hardware and best practices.
- Combine drawings from several different sources into consolidated drawing sets with consistent scales, fonts, line weights, blocks, and attributes.
- Produces data analyses, data conversions, and cartographic models and map products to support project development, construction, and operation
- Use creative problem solving to troubleshoot GIS solutions for engineering applications
- Prepare hard copy and electronic figures and field maps
Requirements
- Bachelor or Associates degree in Geography, Natural Resources, or Geospatial Studies preferred; or Associates in Drafting an Design.
- 1-5 years of related experience
- Proficient use of ESRI packages including ArcGIS, QGIS; Autocad or Microstation
