What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server Operations Engineer position at Astreya?
Responsibilities
- Perform large-scale data center buildout and server deployment.
- Resolve complex technical issues within the data center, ranging from software bugs, hardware failures to network issues.
- Own policies and procedures for the day to day operations to ensure a secure and smooth production environment.
- Build tools and automations to improve the operational efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
- BS in technical field or related experience.
- Knowledge of Linux and hardware systems in a production environment.
- Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies.
- Experience in shell scripting or programming languages
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with massive remote OS installation such as PXE boot.
- Knowledge of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and NCSI.
- Time and project management experience.
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
- Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
- Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
- Must be able to use a computer
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively
- Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
