Position Overview

Astria Therapeutics is dedicated to bringing hope with life-changing therapies to patients and families affected by allergic and immunological diseases. Astria’s pipeline includes our lead program, navenibart (STAR-0215), a monoclonal antibody inhibitor of plasma kallikrein in Phase 3 clinical development for the treatment of hereditary angioedema, as well as STAR-0310, an OX40 monoclonal antibody antagonist currently in preclinical development for atopic dermatitis (AD) and being explored for other allergic and immunological diseases.

The Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for medical affairs portfolio management including launch readiness and driving the medical strategic roadmap for navenibart and STAR-0310. The Director, Medical Affairs will contribute to clinical research by developing life-cycle management strategies, investigator-initiated research strategies and innovative post marketing strategies. The position partners with cross-functional leaders in Clinical Development, Commercial, HEOR, and Market Access, contributing to key decisions for products and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of medical strategic roadmap for launch readiness.
  • Drive the integrated evidence strategy development across all disease areas and ensure effective dissemination of the data.
  • Create a compelling medical strategic narrative, leveraging insights and the competitive knowledge.
  • Identify key launch opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive medical value optimization.
  • Develop novel solutions to educate the clinical and scientific community in preparation for launch.
  • Provide expertise in Phase 4 development and lifecycle management strategies in collaboration with clinical development.
  • Collaborate with Field Medical Affairs to define regional strategies and tactics.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Investigator Initiated Sponsored Research (IISR) strategy, reviews proposals, and monitors ongoing projects.
  • Develop and operationalize the expanded access program (EAP) strategy.
  • Partner with the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) function to execute research.
  • Collaborate with Patient Advocacy to define educational strategies and data dissemination strategies incorporating the patient voice.
  • Serve as a scientific resource for healthcare professionals and field medical colleagues.
  • Participate in national and regional scientific meetings.
  • Other duties as periodically assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare related degree (MD/DO, PharmD, PhD, PA/NP, or equivalent) with 10-12 years of professional experience.
  • Previous experience in clinical practice strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Proven track record of developing and driving medical strategy with prior launch experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in a range of evidence generation methodologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, engage, and educate HCPs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize complex information, and problem solve
  • A minimum of 30% travel is required.
